Healthy Halloween Treats for Preschoolers

Posted on 10-04-2017

Halloween isn’t just about sugar and candy. Get in the kitchen and thrill your preschooler with these treats that are so fun, they won’t even know they’re healthy.

Colby Jack-o-lanterns

Surprise your kiddo with this twist on a classic sandwich. Carefully cut your jack-o-lantern face out of the bread and then make your grilled cheese as usual with your child’s favorite cheese—this meal is almost too adorable to eat.

Spiders on a log

This Halloween twist of “ants on a log” replaces raisins with fake spiders. Spread some peanut butter on a celery stalk and toss a couple spiders on top! When it is time to eat, help your little ones “catch” the spiders before digging in!

Pumpkin veggie tray

Pumpkins aren’t the only orange food to decorate with! At your next Halloween party, ditch the candy corn for some carrots and build a pumpkin face out of carrots and raisins. Stick some ranch on the side, and your plate will be one that everyone reaches for.

Banana ghost

Easy to make and so cute, banana ghosts will “a-peel” to young and old alike! Peel back a banana, and use chocolate chips to make a tiny ghost face. Make enough for the whole family to enjoy! Now that’s the spirit!

Spider crackers

Your preschoolers will have so much fun making these spider snacks. Gather up some Ritz crackers, pretzels, peanut butter (or cream cheese as an allergy-friendly alternative) and some raisins for the eyes, and you’ll have more spider snacks than you know what to do with!
